Starting 2011 with a new blog

I think this is a first.  I have actually followed through on a new year resolution.  I do have quite a few going this year, but one I have been toying with for a while is writing a blog.  I mean, everyone does it, so why not me?  Well, there is the small matter of having something to say and I have always been a little self-conscious about putting my thoughts out there for everyone to read.  But, I think it will be good for me to take time every day to write about what's on my mind so here I am! (You should be warned I really like using parentheses and exclamation marks - apologies in advance to all those pedants out there!)

I named this blog 'Krusty Kernels' as my nick-name is Krusty and I am hoping there will be kernels of wisdom, truth and humour in my posts.  I am a wife, mother of three, keen observer of politics, avid tennis player, history buff, lover of rugby league and cricket and mother of a child with high functioning autism and albinism.  I love talking and love all aspects of social media, particularly Twitter and Facebook.  I am constantly struggling with balancing my family and work commitments and sometimes find myself drowning in it all - like everyone else! I also struggle with a crisis of identity most of the time - I am known more as my kids' mother than as me, as a person.  But through everything I have retained my sense of humour which I am sure will continue to get me through all that is thrown at me.

So, my resolution this year is to try and organise myself a little better, especially in light of returning to work in March, and I hope this blog will help me put things into perspective.  If it also occasionally entertains others, that will be welcome too!

I hope 2011 proves to be a great year for all and I look forward to sharing bits of my life with you as we move through it...for now, I have tennis to watch, so ciao for the moment!

  1. Hi Kirsty - welcome to the blogging community!

Just wanted to say how pleased I was to hear from your recent Tweet that you are a fan of Bookaboo. I am the illustrator of Class Two at the Zoo and Stinky! and am really proud to have my books included in the series.
